Why this exists

I built Chocolocut because raw video editing was chewing up hours of my life and sucking the sweetness out of content creation. The tedious, repetitive grinding—cutting out bitter silences, timing creamy captions, and finding the perfect moments to zoom in—is the dry part of the recipe that makes most editors quit. I started automating the process to make things smoother for myself, and it turned out to be a recipe worth sharing.

This is a fresh, small-batch beta, so the recipe isn't completely perfect yet and a few things might melt down. I read every bug report myself and whip up a fix as fast as I can, usually the same week.

Account & Getting Started

Do I need a card for the free plan?+
No — the Free plan requires no payment info at all. A card is only needed if you upgrade to Pro.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?+
Free gives you 3 videos total, each up to 5 minutes long. Pro gives you 180 minutes of processing per month, with each individual video up to 20 minutes long. The editing itself — silence removal, captions, zoom, b-roll, music — is the same on both plans; the difference is purely how much and how long.

Uploading & Requirements

What video formats work?+
MP4, MOV, and WebM all work well. Most other common formats will generally work too, but these three are the ones we test against.
How long can my video be?+
Up to 5 minutes on Free, up to 20 minutes on Pro.
What's the max file size?+
Up to 2GB per video.
Does my video need spoken words?+
Yes — the whole pipeline works by editing around what's said. A video with no speech (or total silence) won't produce a useful result.
Can I upload more than one at a time?+
You can upload as many as you like, but they're processed one at a time — anything after the first will wait in queue until it's done.

What The Editing Actually Does

What does the automatic edit include?+
Silence and dead air removed, styled karaoke-style captions, automatic punch-in zooms on key moments, relevant b-roll, and background music.
How long does processing take?+
At least 10 minutes, often longer depending on your video's length — long-form editing genuinely takes real processing time.
If I don't like the result, can I regenerate it with different settings?+
Not yet — right now, creating a new version means uploading again from scratch rather than re-editing your existing footage. On the Free plan, that uses one of your 3 total videos, so it's worth choosing your style settings carefully before your first upload. True re-editing of an existing video is something we're planning for a future update.

Your minutes reset at the start of your next billing cycle. If you need more before then, there's a Need help? link right where the limit message appears.
Do unused Pro minutes roll over?+
No — unused minutes reset each month rather than accumulating.

Privacy & Data

Who can see my videos?+
Only you. Every video is locked to your account — nobody else, including other users, can view or access your files.
How long do you keep my finished video before I need to download it?+
Pro users' videos are kept indefinitely. Free users' videos are kept for 24 hours after processing, so download promptly.

Troubleshooting

My video says 'failed' — why?+
The most common reasons: the video has no audio track, it's over your plan's length limit, or (rarely) a processing hiccup. If it's not obviously one of the first two, reach out through the support form and we'll look into it.
My video's been processing a long time — is that normal?+
Yes, especially for longer videos — 10+ minutes is normal. If it's been significantly longer than that with no progress, contact support and we'll check on it.
